We are quickly approaching the 2023 LYS Baseball season and the 2nd tryout for this years Cal Ripken 9u – 12u teams. There will be a pre-tryout warmup at LineDriveNW in February and hope your son can attend. This warmup will be a chance for your son to find his glove, bat, bat bag and other gear from last summer that we assume is buried under their football and basketball gear (which we hope is the case, as we do encourage the boys to participate in other sports during their allocated season). We want your son to have the opportunity to take batting practice, play catch, work on fundamentals and get a little bit of coaching up before showcasing their skills at the March 11 tryout. As has been each year in the past Lynden Cal Ripken will have tryouts the weekend after High School State Basketball, time and place of tryout will be determined by weather.

There are also open baseball workouts available at the LHS Curt Maberry Fieldhouse (large green building next to baseball field) from 2pm-4pm on February 19, 26 and March 5th . Those workouts are lead by longtime Lynden youth baseball coaches Clyde Libolt and Kevin Visser and are free to attend.

The Cal Ripken Baseball (Lynden Lobos) board members have met more than a few times over the past couple months to discuss all of the logistics of the 2023 season, teams, coaches, expenses, sponsors, uniforms, schedules, tournament planning, Spring tryouts and much more. Please know we are working hard behind the scenes and are dedicated to building an everlasting baseball program for the youth of Lynden and provide a great experience for all involved in the Lynden Lobos program.
